ウォーム減速機は、犠牲歯車の一種に分類されます。機械のトルクを減速するために使用され、ウォームとホイールの2つの部分から構成されます。ウォームは真鍮または鋼で作られます。真鍮製のウォームギアは腐食しやすい性質があります。真鍮製のウォームギアには、リン系EPギアオイルを使用できます。このオイルは歯車の歯に薄い酸化皮膜を形成し、衝撃力や過酷な機械的条件から歯を保護します。しかしながら、真鍮製のホイールに深刻な損傷を与える可能性もあります。
