WPDKS Single Speed Cast Iron Worm Reducer — WP Series

The WPDKS triple-feature worm reducer integrates D-type split housing, S-type top-entry IEC flange, and K-type hollow bore output. Sizes 40–250 mm, ratio 1/5–1/60, weights 5–350 kg. Maximum function, minimum component count — one unit replaces gearbox, adaptor, and output coupling in overhead shaft-mount applications.

Description

WPDKS Triple-Feature Cast Iron Worm Reducer — Product Overview

The WPDKS is the most fully specified single-speed worm reducer in the WP series, combining all three auxiliary features in one FC20+ cast iron housing. The D-type split housing enables in-situ worm wheel maintenance. The S-type top-entry IEC flange mounts the motor overhead without an adaptor plate. The K-type hollow bore output accepts the driven shaft directly without a coupling.

For overhead-driven shaft-mount applications — food processing conveyors, pharmaceutical agitators, packaging turntables — the WPDKS eliminates the motor adaptor, the output coupling, and the teardown downtime from a single drive station simultaneously.

WPDKS Worm Reducer — Core Features

■ D-Split Housing — Cover Off, Motor Stays

Split below the IEC flange joint. Remove the housing top cover without touching the motor bolts — full worm wheel access with the overhead motor in place.

■ S-Type IEC Flange — Motor Bolts On Overhead

Top-entry IEC 72-1 flange eliminates the motor adaptor and the lateral motor projection. Motor mounts in four bolts from above — the most compact overhead motor drive in the WP series.

■ K-Type Hollow Bore — No Output Coupling

H7-tolerance through-bore accepts the driven shaft directly. No coupling hardware — shorter installed drive length, no coupling lubrication, no coupling fatigue failure.

■ Three Components Replaced by One

WPDKS replaces motor adaptor + worm reducer + output coupling. Reduces BOM count by two SKUs, installation time by approximately 55%, and total drive length by 80–250 mm across the size range.

■ FC20+ Cast Iron — Suitable for Wash-Down Environments

Cast iron resists cleaning chemical exposure in food and pharmaceutical installations better than aluminium. The WPDKS sealing system maintains ingress protection in wet cleaning cycle environments.

■ Output Torque to 3,025 Nm — Full WP Rating

Triple features do not reduce torque capacity. The WPDKS size 250 delivers the same 850–3,025 Nm as the WPDA and WPDKA at each ratio — the worm gear internals are identical.

WPDKS Worm Reducer — Industry Applications

WPDKS worm reducer food processing and pharmaceutical overhead shaft applications

⚔ Food Processing Conveyors

Overhead IEC motor keeps electrical connections away from food contact zones. Hollow bore eliminates the coupling exposed to washdown cleaning chemicals. Split housing enables hygienic inspection access without motor removal.

☵ Pharmaceutical & Chemical Agitators

Clean, compact drive configuration with no external coupling hardware minimises contamination risk around vessel openings. Annual inspection via split cover with motor in-place reduces validated maintenance procedure complexity.

⚒ Packaging Turntable & Indexing Drives

WPDKS achieves the minimum overhead drive envelope for packaging machine turntable and index station drives — overhead motor, direct shaft bore, and in-situ maintenance all in a single compact unit.

⚊ Overhead Conveyor & Elevator Head Drives

In applications with restricted headroom above the drive, WPDKS overhead motor configuration and compact housing achieve the lowest total installed height in the WP product series.

Ever Power Manufacturing Quality — WPDKS Worm Reducer

Ever Power WPDKS worm reducer manufacturing and testing

■ ISO 9001:2000 Certified

Every unit is manufactured under ISO 9001:2000 quality management. Raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final testing are all documented and traceable to each unit’s serial number.

■ CE Marking — EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

Full CE compliance confirms adherence to European safety and design standards for mechanical power transmission, supporting export to EU, UK, Australian, and New Zealand markets.

■ Pre-Shipment Testing: Noise, Leak, Torque

Every unit passes three tests before shipping: noise below 68 dB(A) at rated load, 30-minute pressurisation leak test, and torque transmission within ±5% of rated value. Non-conforming units are reworked — not shipped.

■ FC20+ Material Certification

Housing castings are verified by mill certificates for FC20 grade: minimum 220 MPa tensile strength, 160–200 HB hardness. Ultrasonic defect testing is performed on size 135 and above.

WPDKS Worm Reducer — Customer Reviews

★★★★★

“WPDKS on our food processing conveyor head drives. Overhead IEC motor, hollow bore on the head shaft, split housing for cleaning inspections — three requirements satisfied with one unit. Excellent.”

Adelaide — T.B.
★★★★★

“Used WPDKS-100 on our overhead-driven mixer shafts. Direct motor overhead, shaft through the bore, split cover for annual inspection without motor removal. Reduced maintenance time by 60%.”

Christchurch — H.M.
★★★★★

“WPDKS drives our packaging machine turntable shafts. D+K+S gave us the smallest possible overhead drive envelope in a very constrained machine layout. No compromises needed.”

Tokyo — S.K.
★★★★☆

“Very functional unit. Triple DKS combination is the right choice for our overhead shaft-mount agitator drives. Would like better documentation on oil volume for combined S+K orientation.”

Frequently Asked Questions — WPDKS Worm Reducer

▶ What is the difference between WPDKS and WPDKA?
Both have D-split housing and K-type hollow bore. The WPDKA uses an A-type IEC input (motor from the side). The WPDKS uses an S-type IEC input (motor from above). Choose WPDKA for side-motor configurations; choose WPDKS when the motor must be overhead.
▶ How does the WPDKS top cover open with the overhead motor in place?
The D-type split line is below the IEC motor flange joint. The top cover is removed by undoing the housing split-line bolts — the motor flange bolts remain untouched. Full worm wheel access is available with the motor remaining bolted overhead.
▶ What driven shaft diameters does the WPDKS K-bore accept?
Bore diameters match the WPKA and WPKS series: 18.8 mm (size 40) through 90 mm (size 250). See the full table for each size. All keyways are GB/T 1095 standard.
▶ Can the WPDKS torque arm be positioned on any side of the housing?
The torque arm boss is located on the side of the housing. The reaction bracket position can be adjusted to suit the available anchor point on the machine frame. Contact Ever Power applications engineering if your installation geometry requires a non-standard torque arm orientation.
▶ What is the WPDKS maximum output torque?
The WPDKS size 250 delivers 850–3,025 Nm, identical to the WPDA and WPDKA since the worm gear internals are the same across all WP 250 variants. The D+K+S features affect mounting configuration only, not torque rating.
