WPDS Single Speed Cast Iron Worm Reducer — WP Series

The WPDS worm reducer combines a D-type split housing with an S-type top-entry IEC motor flange — the most compact overhead motor drive in the WP series. Sizes 40–250 mm, ratio 1/5–1/60, output torque to 3,025 Nm. Motor bolts on from above; split cover opens for in-situ worm wheel service.

Description

WPDS D+S Cast Iron Worm Reducer — Product Overview

The WPDS is the most compact overhead motor drive variant in the WP series. The D-type split housing delivers in-situ maintenance access — remove the top cover with the motor still mounted. The S-type top-entry IEC flange eliminates both the adaptor plate and the lateral motor projection of standard side-entry configurations. Together, these two features minimise the total installed drive height while providing the lowest maintenance downtime.

With the motor mounting directly overhead and the split cover opening independently, WPDS installations in pit-mounted drives, space-constrained pump stations, and overhead conveyor head frames achieve an installed height that no other single-unit configuration can match.

WPDS Worm Reducer — Core Features

■ S-Type IEC Flange — Motor Directly Overhead

Top-entry IEC flange eliminates the lateral motor projection of side-entry A-type configurations. Combined with the compact foot-mount base, WPDS achieves the minimum possible overhead drive footprint.

■ D-Split Housing — Cover Off While Motor Stays

The two-piece cast iron housing splits independently of the IEC motor flange joint. Remove the top cover for worm wheel inspection without disconnecting or repositioning the motor.

■ No Adaptor Plate — Motor Bolts Directly On

The IEC 72-1 flange machined into the housing eliminates the motor adaptor component from the BOM. Four bolts connect motor to reducer — the complete motor installation process.

■ Output Torque to 3,025 Nm — Same as WPDA

The WPDS worm gear internals are identical to the WPDA. D+S input configuration does not reduce output torque — size 250 still reaches 850–3,025 Nm at 1/5–1/60 ratio.

■ FC20+ Cast Iron for Wet & Harsh Environments

Overhead pump and pit installations in water treatment and chemical processing benefit from cast iron’s corrosion resistance advantage over aluminium in damp or splash-prone environments.

■ Weight 5–396 kg Across 12 Sizes

From 5 kg (size 40) for compact mechanism drives to 396 kg (size 250) for heavy industrial applications — the full industrial drive power range in a single WPDS product series.

WPDS Worm Reducer — Industry Applications

WPDS worm reducer water treatment pump and pit drive applications

⚔ Water Treatment & Pit-Mounted Drives

In treatment plant pit installations where lateral space is the binding constraint, WPDS overhead motor positioning and compact split housing make the difference between a standard unit and a custom fabricated solution.

⚙ Pump Station Vertical Drives

Top-entry IEC flange and compact housing reduce total pump station drive height in above-floor installations, enabling tighter equipment spacing and wider aisle clearance on shared base frames.

⚊ Grain Elevator Head Frames

Limited clearance above elevator head frames is a common constraint. WPDS overhead motor reduces the required headroom by eliminating the side-projection of the motor from the drive envelope.

⚒ Chemical Agitator Drives

Overhead motor keeps all electrical connections away from chemical splash zones at the agitator shaft level. D-split cover enables annual inspection without any electrical disconnection.

Ever Power Manufacturing Quality — WPDS Worm Reducer

Ever Power WPDS worm reducer manufacturing facility

■ ISO 9001:2000 Certified

Every unit is manufactured under ISO 9001:2000 quality management. Raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final testing are all documented and traceable to each unit’s serial number.

■ CE Marking — EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

Full CE compliance confirms adherence to European safety and design standards for mechanical power transmission, supporting export to EU, UK, Australian, and New Zealand markets.

■ Pre-Shipment Testing: Noise, Leak, Torque

Every unit passes three tests before shipping: noise below 68 dB(A) at rated load, 30-minute pressurisation leak test, and torque transmission within ±5% of rated value. Non-conforming units are reworked — not shipped.

■ FC20+ Material Certification

Housing castings are verified by mill certificates for FC20 grade: minimum 220 MPa tensile strength, 160–200 HB hardness. Ultrasonic defect testing is performed on size 135 and above.

WPDS Worm Reducer — Customer Reviews

★★★★★

“WPDS on our water treatment paddle mixer drives. Overhead IEC motor keeps the unit compact for pit installation. D-split cover removes easily for annual inspection without motor removal — very practical.”

Melbourne — C.W.
★★★★★

Frequently Asked Questions — WPDS Worm Reducer

▶ How does the WPDS differ from both the WPDA and the WPS?
The WPDA has D-split housing + IEC flange but the motor enters from the side (A-type). The WPS has S-type top-entry input but a solid housing and solid input shaft. The WPDS combines both: D-split housing AND S-type top-entry IEC flange — overhead motor with in-situ maintenance access.
▶ Can the WPDS top cover be removed while the motor remains bolted on?
Yes — that is the primary design benefit. The D-type split housing separates below the IEC motor flange joint. Remove the housing cover without touching the motor bolts. Worm wheel inspection and replacement proceed with the motor fully in place overhead.
▶ What is the oil fill adjustment for WPDS top-entry orientation?
The oil volume is specified for DS mounting. Fill to the oil gauge indicator with the unit in operating orientation. Refer to the WPDS lubrication table for size-specific volumes, as the S-type oil sump level differs from the standard A-type orientation.
▶ Does the WPDS require a motor support bracket?
For sizes 200 and 250 with heavier motors, a support bracket is recommended to prevent bending stress on the IEC flange joint. For sizes 40–175, cantilevered motor mounting is within the IEC specification for direct flange mounting.
▶ What is the output torque range of the WPDS?
The WPDS size 40 delivers 4–20 Nm at 1/5 ratio. The WPDS size 250 delivers 850–3,025 Nm at 1/5–1/60 ratio. Torque ratings are identical to the WPDA since the worm gear internals are the same — only the input configuration differs.
