WPEKA Double Speed Cast Iron Worm Reducer — WP Series

Single-stage worm reducers achieve ratios up to 1/60. When applications demand 1/200, 1/500, or 1/900 — solar trackers, valve actuators, slow-speed conveyors, and positioning drives — a second worm stage is the engineering answer. The WPEKA places two matched worm stages in tandem in a single cast iron housing, delivering ratios from 1/200 to over 1/900 in one compact, foot-mount unit with no intermediate shafting, no external coupling between stages, and no additional mounting frame.

■ K-Type Hollow Bore — Direct Shaft Mount at Ultra-High Ratio

The WPEKA combines the two-stage extreme ratio capability with the zero-coupling hollow bore output. The driven shaft inserts directly into the K-bore — no output coupling required even at 1/900+ ratios with 6,050 Nm output torque.

The hollow bore enables shaft-mounting the WPEKA directly onto the driven equipment shaft with a torque arm reaction bracket — the same installation method as the WPKA, but with access to ratios up to 1/900+.

■ Same 6,050 Nm Output Torque as WPEA — K-Bore Does Not Reduce Capacity

The K-type hollow bore substitution does not change the worm gear internals or torque ratings. WPEKA size 155–250 delivers identical 6,050 Nm to the WPEA at the same ratio.

Both worm wheel stages use precision-matched ZCuSn10Pb1 tin-bronze pairs, providing consistent inter-stage mesh quality. The dual-stage reduction noise level remains within the 68 dB(A) rated load limit.

■ Bilateral A-Type Input — Standard Motor Coupling

A-type solid input shaft accepts motor connections from either side via standard couplings. No motor adaptor required — WPEKA uses the same motor hardware as a standard WPA.

■ Foot-Mount or Shaft-Mount — Two Installation Modes

The WPEKA foot-mount base and torque arm boss are both present in the same housing. Use foot-mount for frame-mounted installation or shaft-mount directly onto the driven shaft — no modification required.

WPEKA shaft-mount configuration simplifies solar tracker structural design — the dual-stage reducer mounts directly on the tracker rotation shaft without a separate mounting frame, eliminating the frame and coupling between reducer and shaft.

For slow-speed conveyors with a keyed head shaft, WPEKA provides ultra-high ratio reduction plus direct shaft mounting — achieving output speeds below 5 rpm from a standard motor without VFD controls or external coupling hardware.

⚒ Large Valve Actuator Shaft Drives

WPEKA K-bore mounts directly on valve stem shafts for large valve actuator applications requiring ratios above 1/200. No coupling at the valve stem eliminates the external hardware most vulnerable to corrosion in outdoor installations.

The WPEKA hollow bore accommodates the central pivot shaft of large turntable and indexing platform drives, where extreme ratio reduction from a standard motor and direct shaft connection both simplify the mechanism.
