WPEX Double Speed Cast Iron Worm Reducer — Product Overview

The WPEX is the double-stage counterpart to the single-stage WPX: X-type vertical downward output for ceiling and inverted installations, extended to ratios 1/200–1/900+ by the dual worm stage architecture. Overhead mining conveyor drives running below 5 rpm, sub-floor mechanism drives, and ceiling-mounted gravity-assist systems requiring extreme ratios use WPEX where no single-stage overhead reducer can deliver the required output speed.

WPEX Double Speed Worm Reducer — Core Features

■ X-Type Downward Output + Double Stage — Extreme Ratio Ceiling Drive

The WPEX combines X-type vertical downward output with two-stage extreme ratio reduction — providing ratios 1/200 to 1/900+ in a ceiling-mount or inverted installation. Applications requiring output speeds below 10 rpm from an overhead drive unit use WPEX where a single-stage WPX would only reach 1/60.

■ Same 6,050 Nm Output Torque as WPEA

X-type output does not affect dual-stage torque capacity. WPEX size 155–250 delivers 6,050 Nm.

■ Oil Circuit for X-Type Inverted/Downward Orientation

Both chamber oil volumes are adjusted for X-type inverted orientation. Use the WPEX lubrication table for correct volumes in ceiling/inverted mounting.

■ Bilateral Horizontal Input — Motor from Either Side

Horizontal bilateral input shaft retained in X-type configuration — motor connects from either side of the ceiling-mounted housing.

■ FC20+ Dual-Chamber Cast Iron — Inverted Load Stability

Cast iron housing maintains dimensional stability under the sustained inverted load of ceiling-mount installation. Dual-chamber design maintains inter-stage alignment at operating temperature.

■ Independent Oil Chambers — Both Stages

Two independent sealed chambers with separate fill, gauge, and drain — each maintained independently on 2,500-hour intervals.

WPEX Worm Reducer — Industry Applications

WPEX double speed worm reducer applications

⚊ Overhead Mining Conveyor Slow Drives

WPEX ceiling-mount with X-type downward output drives mining conveyor head shafts at ultra-slow speeds (below 5 rpm) directly from a standard motor — eliminating the VFD that single-stage ceiling drives require for comparable speeds.

⚒ Sub-Floor Mechanism Drives

Extreme-ratio ceiling-mounted drives for sub-floor conveyor mechanisms and under-floor turntable drives use WPEX downward output shaft to reach the driven equipment below the mounting structure.

☵ Ceiling-Mounted Gravity-Feed Controls

Overhead X-type slow drive for gravity-feed gate and hopper control mechanisms requiring ultra-slow, high-torque operation from a compact ceiling-mount unit.

⚛ Overhead Process Line Positioning

Industrial positioning systems requiring ceiling-mount drive units at extreme ratios for indexing, scanning, and inspection system overhead drives use WPEX for the combination of inverted mounting and extreme ratio.

Ever Power Manufacturing Quality — WPEX Worm Reducer

Ever Power double speed worm reducer manufacturing

■ ISO 9001:2000 — Dual-Stage Assembly Certified

Both worm stage assemblies are manufactured and tested under ISO 9001:2000. Inter-stage alignment and ratio accuracy are verified before final assembly of every unit.

■ CE Marking — EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

Full CE compliance for export to EU, UK, Australian, and New Zealand markets without re-certification.

■ Pre-Shipment Testing: Noise, Leak, Torque

Noise below 68 dB(A) at rated load, 30-minute pressurisation of both gear chambers, and output torque within ±5% of rated. Non-conforming units reworked before shipment.

■ FC20+ Material Certification

Both housings carry FC20 mill certificates: 220 MPa minimum tensile strength, 160–200 HB hardness. Ultrasonic testing on size combinations 135–200 and above.

Frequently Asked Questions — WPEX Double Speed Worm Reducer

▶ How does WPEX differ from WPX?
The WPX single-stage achieves ratios to 1/60 with X-type vertical downward output. The WPEX adds a second worm stage to reach 1/200–1/900+ in the same inverted/ceiling mount configuration.
▶ How is oil managed in WPEX inverted/ceiling mount orientation?
Both chamber oil volumes differ from horizontal WPX orientation in inverted mounting. Use the WPEX lubrication table for X-type inverted oil volumes at each size combination — fill through the designated port with the unit in its operating position.
▶ What is the maximum output torque of the WPEX?
WPEX size combination 155–250 delivers up to 6,050 Nm at the maximum available ratio — identical to WPEA and WPEO since all A-type input WPE variants share the same worm gear internals.
▶ Can the WPEX bilateral input shaft connect from either side in ceiling-mount position?
Yes. The horizontal bilateral input shaft is accessible from both sides in ceiling/inverted mount, allowing motor connection from either direction on the overhead frame.
▶ What mounting hardware is used to fix the WPEX in ceiling/inverted position?
The WPEX uses the same foot-mount base as the WPA, installed inverted on a ceiling frame or overhead structure. The mounting bolt pattern and base dimensions are the same as the WPA equivalent size combination.
